Newborn Photography Safety Is top priority Bunnell, FL

Our top priority is newborn safety.

My number one priority when handling your new bundle of joy is their safety. In order to ensure your babies safety I have taken time, energy & resources in taking multiple courses to learning how to safely handle and pose newborns in photography (I mean I am also a mom of 7 LOL and I have yet to hurt any of them) But outside of my. own personal experience with newborns I have taken courses to learn how to safety pose your baby in those super cute poses that everyone loves. When handling babies during their session I make sure your baby is comfortable and look for any signs of discomfort. If the baby is uncomfortable or does not want to do certain poses I do not force that pose. I move on to the next pose. Every baby is different. Some babies may allow me to do every single pose. Others may only let me do a few. Really it comes down to the baby. At this point they are running the show.

I have been called the baby whisperer. I am very gentle with all my babies and use my super mom powers I mean techniques to soothe them. Babies can sense when you are stressed and because of my experience I am relaxed myself because I am very comfortable handling babies.

During the babies session I do almost always have an assistant with me. This assistant stays near the baby at all times. If I do not have an assistant, the parents would assist me when needed. Hands are almost always on the baby.

Now on a side note with parents helping me. Especially if the baby is breast fed. Babies can smell their mommies. If they smell her many times they will get fussy and the session comes to a halt till they are calmed and ready to go. So if dad is there. I have him help instead. I will have my moms relax in my office (there was a big hole created in the wall where she can see everything going on) or tell her to sit close by and get herself some snacks and something to drink (which are provided)

During some poses hands never leave the baby and have to be removed later. For instance the froggy pose is requested a lot. This pose is where the hands sit on top of the hands. During this poses hands absolutely never ever ever leave the baby. This picture is actually a composite meaning two pictures are put together to create the final image. The baby is never left to support their head alone. This is extremely dangerous and can hurt the baby. I have seen other photographers to this and I cringe and my heart sinks every single time. I feel like they are doing it to show off and don’t truly care about safety. One day it will bite them in the butt and they will regret that for the rest of their lives. (I always comment that there are safer ways to do this pose) Below is a picture I did for reference. Normally during this pose the baby is in a deep sleep. This girl was so calm during her session and did not jerk or move in any poses I did for her. She is whats called a unicorn newborn lol

I keep my work area very warm but not hot. For us (the adults) we will probably be sweating. But the baby is going to be super comfortable. Especially if we are doing naked poses or unwrapped poses. I do keep a heater close by. So really more than anything I will be the one sweating not mom and dad. But the baby will be very comfortable. My studio is 1,700 square feet.

Every session is customized. The parents choose what colors and props they like and do not like. The sessions last anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. This will completely depend on the baby. If they need to eat or snuggle. We will pause the session. I do try to give a nice variety to choose from in every session. However if the baby is very uncomfortable I give the parents the option to rest and continue or wrap up the session. I do not force anyone to stay an extended amount of time. But I do like to make sure I have a nice amount of pictures for my parents to choose from.
