How do I prepare for your newborn session
This is always so much and probably my favorite thing to do because it is a great excuse to buy new things lol
Before I start preparing, I will talk with you on colors, props and poses you like. If you are not sure that is ok too. I will ask probing questions to help me. Honestly most moms say “I trust your judgement” With that being said if that happens I make sure to ask questions like “Is there anything you absolutely do not want as far as props, colors, outfits” ect ect. Then I get to work
For instance next week I have a newborn girl session. I have done their portraits for almost 2 years now. However I did not get a chance to do their newborn portraits. Her only request was that she get a couple of portraits done similar to the ones that she has of her other babies from their newborn session.
Her first daughters session was done in all pink, her son in beige and this baby that I am going to shoot. She originally said pink as well. I had made the suggestion of doing purple instead so it is not to matchy matchy and she loved it. I created 3 different sets which can be found on my investment page under props that I put together for her session. She is super excited about it and she said you can do whatever you want. I just want a couple similar to what she had already. Which is a basket with fluff and baby girl in her daddy’s military shirt. No problem I got it.
But what I additionally did was suggested that we do one pose with a prop & do that same pose for all her sessions so she we can watcher grow & she thought that was an amazing idea. I will be doing baby girls newborn, 3, 6, 9 and 12 month sessions. Each one will be super similar but baby will be a little older in each session.
I got way off track. Anyway…… After I coordinate everything I pack it all up 2-3 days in advance. But shhhhhhhh if you are reading this I have a secret. I am opening a studio in a few short weeks and will have my clients travel to me instead :) How exciting
